Is there ever a time when I'm NOT repairing my computer? Either I have horrible luck or I treat my PC really badly... the latter is probably the case this time. Basically I was playing Guild Wars with my sweet new SLI setup, and I hear a (pfff) and my computer turns off. The (pfff) was followed shortly by a faint burning smell, and naturally, the computer wouldn't turn back on. I figured that it was probably the power supply; the next morning, my dad confirmed that it was probably the power supply; some short research into buying a new power supply later, and I confirmed that my power supply was waaaay too shitty to run a sweet new SLI setup. Long story short, I'm out another $110.
...but my new SLI setup is gonna be SWEET!
New specs:
ASUS A8N32-SLI motherboard (assuming the PSU didn't fry it)
Athlon 64 X2 2.0GHz dual-core processor
3GB Corsair RAM
2x Geforce 7600GT 256MB PCI-E16x video cards
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card
660GB HD space
580W PSU!
Moral of the story: don't skimp on your PSU. It's like skimping on your spinal column--it's what powers the rest of the machine.
